Photographs of bryophytes by the late Dr Martha E Newton

Amongst Martha’s photographs are some images of scarce or difficult-to-spot species (Fissidens pusillus, for example) that are probably not in standard publications. Additionally, the British and Irish Bryological Society (BIBS) has an excellent section which includes links to the current Field Guide, with pages on the identification of difficult groups and a comprehensive literature list.
